Reading Reflection #3 Chapter 11 & Chapter12

In chapter 11, it talks about the groundswell inside the company, which means that your employees are also your groundswell.

Employees play an important part in the success of your company, the quality of their work has a direct impact on your success. The bigger the company is, the more of problem internal communication becomes. It is because of that the message flow from the upper level to the lower level need to go through too many processes, which is more easy to make the communication ineffective. 

Your employees are also your groundswell, listening to what they said about the problem inside the company and the creative ideas that will create new products will promote the development and improvement of your company. As a result, the free and open company culture becomes more important at this time, because it will make the employees not afraid to speak out and express their opinions. 

The video talks about how Steve Job worked with its employees, each person inside Apple has their own responsibilities, they charge for specific jobs, then combine together as the product. They were being trusted, and free to express their ideas. As  Steve Jobs said in the video, his major work was meeting with different groups, listen to their ideas and solving problems. 

There are wonderful agruement between the CEO and employees inside Apple, as Steve Jobs said, " if you want to hire great people and have them stay working for you, you have to let them make a lot of decisions, you have to be run by ideas, not hierarchy.

Same things also happened in best buy, the case study in chapter 11. They listen to their employees, which can turn rapidly into problem-solving. They talk to their employees, energize and support them, which has a direct positive effect on the development of the company.

To summarize, the secret for a business to go forward is the company culture that how they organize and manage themselves, how they treat their employees, whether or not they listen to their employees. It's important and necessary to listen to the groundswell inside the company, which will help to create new ideas, promote development, and it is also the key to success for a company.
